Patient Testimonial

Very nice and helpful, Dr. DeWild is one of the best dentists I’ve ever gone to. I recently went to get my last two wisdom teeth removed; the procedure was only 40 minutes. The dental assistant that worked with him was very nice too

Why is Tooth Extraction Necessary?

  • Severe Decay or Fractures: When a tooth is beyond repair, removal helps prevent pain and protects surrounding teeth.
  • Infections or Abscesses: Extracting an infected tooth stops the spread of bacteria and protects your gums and jawbone.
  • Crowding or Orthodontic Needs: Removing certain teeth can create the space needed for braces or aligners to straighten your smile.

Benefits of Tooth Extraction

  • Relieves Pain Quickly: Removing a damaged or infected tooth stops discomfort and allows for proper healing.
  • Prevents Further Dental Problems: Extraction helps prevent infections and protects nearby teeth and gums from damage.
  • Improves Oral Health and Alignment: Creating more space can support orthodontic treatment and promote a healthier bite.
  • Restores Comfort and Confidence: Once healed, you can eat, speak, and smile without constant pain or worry.

Post-Surgery Tips

  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids to support your body’s healing process and help reduce swelling.
  • Eat Soft Foods: Choose easy-to-chew meals, such as yogurt, mashed potatoes, and smoothies, for the first few days.
  • Rinse with Warm Salt Water: Gentle rinsing helps keep the area clean and reduces the risk of infection. NO RINSING THE DAY OF EXTRACTIONS
  • Use Ice Packs: Apply continuous ice for the following two days after surgery (make sure ice is not applied directly to skin)
  • Rest and Recover: Avoid heavy strenuous activity, smoking, or using straws to protect your healing site.
