Frequently Asked Questions

What is oral pathology?

Oral pathology focuses on diagnosing and treating diseases of the mouth, including cysts, lesions, and signs of oral cancer.

If a sore or lump does not heal within two weeks, it should be evaluated by an oral surgeon.

Most patients feel little to no discomfort, as we use local anesthesia or IV sedation during the procedure.

Persistent sores, red or white patches, difficulty swallowing, or lumps in the mouth or neck can all be warning signs.

Most patients heal within a few days to a week, depending on the size and location of the treated area.

Many insurance plans cover medically necessary procedures. Our office can verify your coverage before treatment.

Not always—small biopsies may only require local anesthesia, while larger or more complex procedures may benefit from IV sedation.

Some conditions may reoccur, which is why regular follow-ups and oral screenings are important.

Avoid tobacco use, limit alcohol consumption, practice good oral hygiene, and schedule regular oral screenings with your provider.
